This is a very unusual gong - please listen to the video demonstration with headphones and you will understand. The gong produces a profound and varied set of overtones that blend together in a very unique manner, the effect of which is visually amplified by the way the light dances off the figure represented on the gong, who bears a strong resemblance to the historical Tibetan yogi Milarepa.
 
When read with a chromatic tuner, the note played when struck is Db, and as the note is sustained it begins to introduce Gb as well. it sends off powerful and audible "waves" as the note rings out, which can be heard in the video clip. This is a very beautiful piece, and the maker will not be replicating either design or the sound again - each gong is totally unique.
