This gong produces a firm, clear, high note when struck, like a dinner gong. Engraved on the surface is a Nepalese Buddhist mandala with a Yin Yang symbol in the middle representing divine balance. The video demonstration shows the gong being played with two mallets.
For filming purposes, the gong was hanging quite low, and the extra mallet helped stabilise the gong - however, it is not necessary to use two mallets to achieve the deep roar heard in the video. Playing around the edges with one hand will tease the sound up to a crescendo which can be finished off with a firm but gentle tap in the centre of the gong. It produces a very beautiful sound, and provides a very soothing, healing experience. I strongly recommend using headphones when listening to the demonstration!
